BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 successful in DMV Touring Car Challenge

Kaatsch Racing Team claims first place in Hockenheim

Despite the fact that ALPINA no longer has a factory team on the starting grid in the GT3 class, there currently remain four BMW ALPINA B6 GT3 in the race with customer teams.

Two B6 GT3 are racing the ESET V4 Cup for the Trevor Racing Team. The cockpit of the B6 GT3 EVO (chassis no. 6) is shared by Stefan Rosina and Attila Barta. The team's other B6 GT3 (chassis no. 3) is piloted by Gregor Zsigo. Stefan Rosina won the first two races of the ESET V4 Cup at the Hungaroring.

In 2014, two customer teams within the DMV Touring Car Challenge (TCC) are banking on the ALPINA racing powerhouse.

All teams usually hire a factory race engineer and a mechanic to assist in the races. The support provided by ALPINA is thus guaranteed throughout the season.

Duller Motorsport, the TCC championship team 2013, enters the race this season with the former Sports Garage ALPINA (chassis no. 2), piloted by Luca Cappellari (Monaco) and Markus Weege (Vienna). Markus Weege immediately gained 4th place (3rd place in the GT3 class) in Brno, the first race of the 2014 season. After an accident, the car was at the factory the last few weeks and in addition to the repair was supplied with various minor updates to be again competitive at the Salzburgring (4th to 5th June).

The steering wheel of the BMW ALPINA B6 GT3's chassis no. 7 newly constructed in 2013 of Kaatsch Racing Team from Baden-Wuerttemberg is shared by Hermann Wager (Esslingen), Yannik Trautwein (Schiltach) and occasional guest drivers. With this car the Kaatsch Racing Team already scored several top 5 finishes in 2013, including the overall win of the second race in Dijon.

In the current season, Yannik Trautwein was able to gain constant podium finishes. In addition to winning two 2nd places in Brno and Zandvoort, this last weekend saw the best result so far in the DMV TCC races at Hockenheimring. Following an exciting qualifying in which the first six cars were positioned within 0.5 s, the BMW ALPINA won 4th and 3rd place on the starting grid. In the overall ranking (across all classes) the Kaatsch team achieved 3rd place in the first race and gained the overall win in the second race for the first time this season. An excellent result!

In the TCC, two separate races are driven on Saturday. Free practice and the two qualifying sessions each take place on Friday. Classification is into different classes. The two ALPINA B6 GT3 are classified class 8 (GT3 group) and therefore have GT3 cars like the Corvette, Mercedes SLS, Audi R8, Porsche 911 and the Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 as direct competitors. The starting field consists of a total of about 25 race cars. Pilots with an international license qualify for the races. A cockpit can be shared by two pilots per car.

The next race weekend will take place at the Salzburgring in Austria on 4th and 5th July. That race weekend will also see customer cars supported by ALPINA Motor Sports enter the race.
